Traveling to the venue

Knowlton Mansion is about a 30-minute drive from the city. There will be a complimentary shuttle available for guests, picking up and dropping off at the Philadelphia Marriott Old City. If you’re interested in taking the shuttle, please be sure to include that in your RSVP. Shuttle times will be shared closer to the event.

For Out of Towners

For our friends and family traveling to Philadelphia for our wedding, first of all: thank you! We are so happy you can join us. This section outlines the flights, hotels, and activities we recommend. If you have any questions, please reach out to us and we’re happy to help!

Flights

We recommend flying into Philadelphia International Airport. It’s a 10-20 minute taxi or Uber ride to Old City, the neighborhood where we recommend you stay.

Newark Airport often has very budget-friendly flights, and you can take a train from the airport, right to 30th Street Station in Philly. It’s an hour train ride, but it goes by quickly!

Hotels

Philadelphia Marriott Old City

Our hotel block is at the Philadelphia Marriott Old City, and this is where the shuttle will pick up and drop off on the day of the wedding. This hotel is also a 10-minute walk to the Welcome Party location, as well as many other historic sites and delicious restaurants. Below are additional details for this hotel block.

Friday, 6/6/2025 - Sunday, 6/8/2025

Option of 2 Queens or 1 King

$278.11/night, including taxes

You may also call the Hotel Reservations Department at 1-888-236-2427 to book your room, but be sure to tell them you’re with the Alvarado/Flynn Wedding.

Other Options

If you’re interested in staying at a different hotel or if you want to book an AirBnB, we recommend choosing a spot that is in the city, close to the Welcome Party location. Old City, Penn’s Landing, Northern Liberties, and Fishtown are the neighborhoods you want to look for. Below are some hotels that are near the Philadelphia Marriott Old City:

Hilton Philadelphia at Penn’s Landing

Holiday Inn Express Philadelphia - Penns Landing

Activities

We’re so excited to share Philly with you! Philadelphia has amazing restaurants, bars, history, and museums. There are a ton of great resources online to find exactly what you’re looking for, but here are a few of our favorite things that we hope you can check out while you’re here.

The Philadelphia Museum of Art is the cultural heart of a great city—the place for creative play, with a surprise around every corner.

City Hall

America’s largest municipal building is an architectural marvel that's worth exploring all the way to the top.

Lots of shopping, food, and drink options near the hotel

Food & Drink

Tons of food vendors, truly something for everyone

Cuba Libre

Cuban cuisine & a vast rum bar accented by Caribbean decor & late-night salsa dancing.

Tattooed Mom

Relaxed hipster bar with food & drink specials, pool tables plus toys & candy on the bar.

Fringe Bar

Located inside the Fringearts building in Old City

Other Half

Great beer selection with a nice outdoor area and tons of tvs.

An offshoot of the retro icon famous for its cheesesteaks & old-fashioned shakes & fountain sodas.

Registry

As we have already built a life together, we kindly request no gifts. Should you wish to celebrate with a gift, we would be honored by a donation to our honeymoon fund, which will help us create unforgettable memories.

Honeymoon Donation Link

Alternatively, please consider making a donation to Friends of Moyer Street Park. FoMSP is a nonprofit that is building a park in our neighborhood, hopefully breaking ground in late 2025. Adding green space to the neighborhood is an initiative that is near and dear to our hearts, as Marisa is a board member and Matthew is an active volunteer at FoMSP.
